“The book of nature is written in the language of Mathematics” -Galileo
When you take time to look all around, you'll find that math is all over the place. Let's face it, math isn't everyone's favorite subject, but it is still important.
Here are some tips for studying math
1. Fix The Error
If you don't know how to do a math problem, it is likely that you wouldn't know how to solve a similar
problem. To avoid being stuck on the same kind of question, you should make sure that you know the reason why you got the question wrong. Make sure you truly understand your errors and the whole concept of solving that math problem.
2. Mistake Notebook
To study for tests, a mistake notebook is very handy. You can write down the questions you got wrong in one notebook. When there is a test, you can make sure that you already know how to solve the questions you once got wrong.
3. Mathematics Formula Notebook
The more you learn, the more math formulas there are. Sometimes there are just way too many formulas and we get them mixed up. One way to help this is to write down the formulas you're not familiar with in a notebook. Writing it down will strengthen your memory of that formula, and the notebook will come in handy when you need to review all these formulas.
4. Find The Fun
It's true, math can be boring sometimes. But when you really get into a problem, it can be pretty interesting. You can try solving some logic questions to get the brain thinking. Here is a question below:
(Answer will be at the bottom of the page)
There are three numbers from 1 through 9 in a specific order.
Scenario 1 : 2 4 6 => One number correct, and is in the correct position.
Scenario 2 : 2 5 8 => One number correct, but not in the correct position.
Scenario 3 : 6 9 2 => Two numbers correct, both not in the correct positions.
Scenario 4 : 1 7 4 => No numbers correct.
Scenario 5 : 4 1 9 => One number correct, but not in the correct position.
What are the three numbers??🤔🤔
5. Ask Questions
Math would be very hard if we can't ask for help. When you don't understand something, ask for help. You can ask your teacher, your parents, your friends... You don't have to figure everything out by yourself, asking for help is a very great way to understand math.
6. Teach Others
Confucius once said " 'Teaching and learning help each other ". When we teach others, we also learn. We learn what we need to study more about, where we need to improve. When you can teach someone a math problem thoroughly, you know that you really understand it.
7. Pay Attention In Class
You can study by yourself and still learn all the things you have to learn. But paying attention in class will make learning math more effective. Also, sometimes the teacher will teach more than what's on the textbooks, so paying attention in class is an important key to doing good in math.
8. Just Keep Solving
When you keep practicing, you will find that the questions are getting easier. But math is still the same, it is you who have changed. In the beginning it will be hard, but practicing makes you more familiar with it. After 20 minutes of solving similar problems and you still find it hard? No worries, practice for another 20 minutes!
The answer for the question on number 4 is 986, did you get it right?
